Thurl Bailey (1961)
Thurl Bailey was the seventh overall pick in the 1983 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz out of NC State. He quickly became one of the best bench players in the league, finishing fifth in Sixth Man of the Year voting in his third season in 1985-86. Bailey received Sixth Man of the Year votes in three of the next six seasons, finishing second in 1988 and 1989. All of which happened with the Jazz, as he spent his first eight and a half seasons in Utah (1983-1992).
Bailey played three seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves starting in 1991-92, and then called it a career following the 1994 campaign. He went on to play overseas for the next four seasons before one last one-year stint with the Jazz in 1999. Bailey averaged 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists throughout his 12-year career.
