Matching 26-point efforts from rookie 16th overall pick Keyonte George and second-year guard Johnny Juzang led the Utah Jazz to a 108-96 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Cox Pavilion on Monday night.
The matchup was a seesaw battle through three quarters, with the Jazz only able to extend a one-point halftime lead to three going into the final period. Utah then outscored the Timberwolves by a 29-20 margin in the fourth quarter to secure a victory. Minnesota outscored the Jazz in the paint, 54-42, but Utah pulled down 53 rebounds to the Wolves’ 38.
Leonard Miller paced the Timberwolves with 20 points, complementing them with five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Josh Minott totaled 19 points, six boards, two assists and two blocks. Brandon Williams supplied 17 points, seven assists, two rebounds and and two steals. Feron Hunt registered 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
George added seven assists, three rebounds and two steals to his co-team-high scoring total, while Juzang supplemented his offense with four boards, three assists and one block. Luka Samanic recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Colbey Ross delivered 13 points, four assists, two rebounds and one steal. Micah Potter generated an 11-point, 12-rebound double-double that included seven assists.
Both teams are back in action Wednesday night, with the Timberwolves tangling with the Hawks and the Jazz facing the Nuggets.
