Queen making moves

New Orleans traded for Maryland product Derik Queen during the 2025 NBA Draft, making sure the No. 13 pick, whose college teammates called him “Baby Jokić,” started his career in Pelicans’ blue.

While posting a career-high 30 points against Jokić and the Nuggets last Wednesday, Queen showed off his multifaceted offensive skillset, shifting into attack mode and isolating against the three-time Kia NBA MVP.

Queen can put the ball on the deck, finish around the rim and shoot from the outside. He plays with surprising wiggle and shake for a 6-foot-9, 249-pound big.

“That young man is so incredibly skilled,” said Antonio Daniels, as Queen shook Joker for a stepback jumper. “He is so skilled.”

Queen’s hot streak has continued since facing Denver.

Over the last three games, the young big has averaged 23.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists, joining Zion Williamson as the only Pelicans rookies to collect three straight 20+ point, 5+ rebound games.

When Queen and Zion share the floor this season, New Orleans has posted a 131.2 offensive rating over 76 minutes — an enlivening contrast to the Pelicans’ 27th-ranked ORtg of 107.4.

It’s the best of any two-man combination on the team with more than 50 minutes played.

Will Queen continue to show out? The Pelicans face the Bulls (8 ET) tonight on League Pass.

Welcome to a 10-game night in the NBA!

Devin Booker and the Suns host the Houston Rockets in the second half of our Peacock doubleheader.

Tonight’s schedule is headlined by a marquee Peacock doubleheader, featuring the streaking Toronto Raptors taking on the third-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers (7 ET) and a Western showdown between the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns (9:30 ET).

The Raptors have won seven straight games, catapulting them to second in the Eastern Conference.

Scottie Barnes has been doing a bit of everything over that span, averaging 18.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.0 blocks.

His unselfishness has been a theme — the Raptors are fifth in the NBA in offensive rating (119.2) while posting a tie for the league’s best assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2).

Keep an eye on Barnes, as well as fellow stars Brandon Ingram and RJ Barrett, as they face off with Evan Mobley and the Cavaliers talented defense.

Cleveland’s posted a 111.5 defensive rating and +7.4 net rating in the month of November, achieving a 9-3 record over the month.

The Rockets and Suns completed a massive trade this offseason, sending 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant to Houston for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and a host of first-round picks.

Green (hamstring) and Durant (personal reasons) are out tonight. But it’s a fun matchup nonetheless. The Suns are thriving, winning three in a row to rise to sixth in the conference, as Brooks (21.4 ppg) is having one of the best offensive seasons of his career.

Will he deliver against his former team tonight?

We’ll bring you the battle on Peacock.

Here’s the complete slate:
