Kevin Durant continues to make NBA history, entering Year 18.
There’s an adage that says Father Time remains undefeated, but these NBA veterans may say otherwise.
Only seven players in NBA history have averaged 20 or more points per game in their 17th season or later. Four of them are doing so this season.
Below is the full list (* indicates this season):
- LeBron James (seven times)*
- Kevin Durant (twice)*
- James Harden (once)*
- Stephen Curry (once)*
- Kobe Bryant (once)
- Karl Malone (once)
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Most recently, Kevin Durant reached another milestone on Jan. 9, eclipsing Wilt Chamberlain as he now sits at No. 7 on the all-time scoring list. At his current pace, Durant would need five games to pass Dirk Nowitzki (No. 6) and 33 games to pass Michael Jordan (No. 5) and enter the top five.
Durant, James and Harden continue to prove that age is but a number while Curry is having another historic season himself.
Check out the best moments from Durant, James, Curry and Harden this season so far.
Durant passes Chamberlain

In a rare moment where the opposing crowd recognizes greatness, Durant drilled a 3-pointer in the third quarter to pass Chamberlain for seventh on the all-time scoring list. Durant was 15 points away entering the game and quickly got the scoring started as he finished with 30 points on the night, despite the 111-103 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Durant has a long list of scoring records to his name, including being one of the few players in NBA history to have multiple scoring titles (4x). He’s tied with George Gervin for third-most behind Jordan (10) and Chamberlain (seven).
Earlier in Dec. 2025, Durant became the eighth player to reach 31,000 points, tying James as the third-fastest player to reach the mark.
He’s showcasing his longevity by averaging 26.2 ppg this season.
James keeps rolling
After missing the Lakers’ first 14 games, James returned on Nov. 18 and has steadily returned to form: 16.5 ppg in November (four games), 21.6 ppg in December (11 games), and 28.3 ppg in January (four games).
On the fourth occasion where James and Luka Dončić both tallied 30+ points in a game as teammates, the Lakers sank the Pelicans in a 111-103 win on Jan. 6.
James is in his league-leading 23rd NBA season and at age 41, he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
Curry’s busy December
In a game of runs in the 4Q, the Wolves came out on top, defeating the Warriors 127-120.
Curry started the season with a message: 42 points and a win in the Warriors’ home opener vs. the Denver Nuggets back in October.
As the season progressed, Curry made it clear that he’s getting better with age. Back-to-back 40+ points vs. the San Antonio Spurs in November gave Curry a rare opportunity to pass Jordan for the most 35-point games in NBA history after his 30th birthday.
Curry accomplished that feat on Dec. 12 vs. the Timberwolves, scoring 39 points.
A game later, Curry passed Jordan for the most 40-point games after turning 30 years old when he dropped 48 points vs. the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 14. It was his 45th game with 40 or more points after, surpassing Jordan for the most such games in NBA history. It was Curry’s fourth 40-point game of the season and the 75th of his regular season career.
On Christmas Day, Curry became the 22nd player in NBA history to reach 26,000 career points.
On Dec. 29, Curry passed Kevin Garnett for 21st on the scoring list.
And to close out the month on Dec. 31, Curry reached 400 regular-season games with five or more 3-point makes, with the next closest player being Harden at 214.
The week of Harden
James Harden becomes oldest to record a 40-point triple-double (41 pts, 14 reb, 11 ast) in Friday's double-OT win over the Mavs.
What do these stat lines have in common?
- 41 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists
- 37 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists
- 35 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists
- 23 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists
They’re all stat lines from Harden, reminding fans that he is still playing at an elite level.
On the night of his 40-point triple-double on Nov. 14, Harden became the first Clipper to produce those numbers in franchise history and the oldest player to record a 40-point triple-double. It’s the eighth triple-double for Harden as a Clipper, which is a franchise record.
He’s now tallied his 17th career 40-point career-triple double, only trailing Oscar Robertson (22).
Cementing his place among the league’s top scorers, Harden entered the top 10 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list on Dec. 6, 2025 – passing Carmelo Anthony for No. 10. He is now 15 points shy of passing Shaquille O’Neal for ninth place.
