Pelicans sign DeAndre Jordan to reported 1-year deal

New Orleans adds veteran center DeAndre Jordan to its frontline as he joins the 8th team in his career.

DeAndre Jordan spent the last 3 seasons with the Nuggets.

The New Orleans Pelicans have a new face in their frontcourt as 2025-26 gets started.

The team announced Friday it has signed former All-Star center DeAndre Jordan, with Jordan reportedly inking a one-year $3.6 million deal (per ESPN’s Shams Charania). Jordan spent the last three seasons with the Nuggets, averaging 3.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 2024-25.

In New Orleans, Jordan joins a frontline that includes All-Star Zion Williamson and second-year center Yves Missi as the Pelicans are without Kevon Looney — whom the Pelicans added in free agency — as he recovers from a left knee sprain.

Jordan’s signing came the same day the Pelicans were scheduled to play their home opener against San Antonio. He was with the team on Friday morning and was expected to be available to play against the Spurs.

Looney sprained his left knee shortly before the regular season began and is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks. Missi left Wednesday night’s opener in Memphis after twisting his right ankle and is listed as day-to-day.

Jordan was a three-time All-NBA center and an All-Star in 2016-17 during his heyday with the LA Clippers. He was a little-used player in the Nuggets’ run to the 2022-23 NBA title, but was Denver’s most reliable center last season, appearing in 56 games.

In his career, Jordan has played for eight teams (LA Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets), appearing in 1,111 games and 73 playoff games.

He was selected by the Clippers in the second round of the 2008 draft at 35th overall.
