Ron Harper Jr. and the Boston Celtics reportedly agreed to a three-year extension.
The Boston Celtics will keep one of their homegrown talents. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Saturday that the team had re-signed Ron Harper Jr. to a three-year contract. The signing became official on July 6.
The 26-year-old wing had a $2.6 million team option for this year, which the Celtics declined to clear the way to negotiate the new long-term deal. Charania reports that the new contract is for three years and $9 million.

A 6-foot-5 combo guard, Harper Jr. is the son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper and older brother of San Antonio Spurs Kia All-Rookie First Team selection Dylan Harper. He went undrafted in 2022 out of Rutgers and played his first three seasons on Two-Way contracts with the Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons. In 2025, he signed a Two-Way contract with the Celtics, eventually earning a standard roster spot in April 2026.
Harper Jr. averaged 4.2 points on 41.8% from the field across 29 games with Boston this season. Before signing his standard contract, he was averaging 24.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks on 45.5% shooting for Boston’s G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics.
