Ja Morant to miss four weeks with left hamstring strain

The 27-year-old will be re-evaluated in 4 weeks after suffering injury during Thursday's game against Memphis.

Two-time All-Star Ja Morant will be re-evaluated in four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on Thursday night.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant suffered a grade two left hamstring injury and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, according to the team. The injury occurred during Thursday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies as the Blazers were handed their first loss of the season by Morant’s former team.

The 27-year-old was off to a fast start in his first season in Portland, averaging 15.8 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 54.2% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range through four games.

With Morant on the mend, the Trail Blazers will lean more on the rest of their strong backcourt depth, anchored by franchise icon Damian Lillard.

NBA.com will have more on this story as it develops.
