Jason Kidd played 7 seasons for the New Jersey Nets leading them to two consecutive NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003.
Making an All-NBA Team is an incredible individual accomplishment, especially when considering only five players are awarded with that honor each year. This list puts a spotlight on Jason Kidd, the lone Nets player who earned First Team selections throughout Brooklyn’s 58 seasons in the NBA.
Jason Kidd (2002)
Kidd’s first season with the New Jersey Nets in 2001-02 saw the Hall of Famer earn his fourth consecutive All-NBA First Team selection, although the previous three came as a member of the Phoenix Suns. Across 82 games that year, ‘J-Kidd’ averaged 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 9.9 assists and 2.1 steals, making his fifth overall All-Star appearance and second straight All-Defensive First Team. He registered 44 double-doubles and eight triple-doubles in the regular season, then posted eight and four, respectively, in 20 postseason outings. Kidd led the Nets to the Finals against the LA Lakers, where they were swept in four games. He was a close second in MVP voting behind Tim Duncan, representing his highest finish in the MVP race in his 19-year career.
Jason Kidd (2004)
Two years later, Kidd would be named to the All-NBA First Team for the fifth and final time in his storied career. One season after scoring a career-best 18.7 points per game, the San Francisco, California native posted averages of 15.5 points, 9.2 assists, 6.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals, leading the league in dimes for the second consecutive year and fifth overall. In his 67 regular season appearances, Kidd compiled 34 double-doubles and nine triple-doubles, earning him his seventh All-Star nod, a sixth straight All-Defensive team, and an eighth-place finish in the MVP race.
