SALT LAKE CITY – Darryn Peterson posted a 25-point, 12-assist double-double, and Cody Williams added 18 points with eight boards, as the Utah Jazz defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, 109-100, in the Salt Lake City Summer League on Monday night.

This was a tight game from start to finish and the Jazz couldn’t create any separation until the latter stages. But in the end, the strong play of the Peterson-Williams backcourt was enough to lift Utah to victory.

The Jazz had a sizable edge in bench points (40-19) and points in the paint (44-38), while the Grizzlies’ biggest issue was failing to take advantage of Utah’s turnovers, scoring just 15 points on 13 turnovers.

The biggest story of the game was the matchup between the second- and third-overall picks of the 2026 NBA Draft, with Peterson (No. 2) playing for Utah and Cameron Boozer (No. 3) suiting up for the Grizzlies.

Darryn Peterson dazzles with 25 points and 12 assists in a Summer League win vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Jazz jumped to a 24-23 lead after the first quarter, and the close margin persisted in the second (29-29) and third (24-23), leaving Utah holding a meager two-point lead with 10 minutes left.

The Jazz pulled away for good in the fourth, outscoring the Grizzlies 32-25 and cruising to victory in a game where their backcourt tandem turned heads.

Peterson, the former Kansas standout, continues to leave a good impression in the early stages of Summer League play with a team-high 25 points, while Blake Hinson finished with 15 points.

Seven Utah players scored in double digits, and center Kylor Kelley exited the game with an injury and didn’t return. The Jazz shot an impressive 51.4% from the field and 39.4% from 3-point range.

Cameron Boozer finishes with 18 points in a Summer League game vs. the Utah Jazz.

Cedric Coward led the way for the Grizzlies with a 23-point performance, though he shot just 9-for-21 from the field. Boozer finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper (16 points) and Javon Small (14 points, six assists) also scored in double digits for a Memphis team that shot 42% from the floor and 33.3% from 3-point range.
