2026 NBA Summer League: Pacers push past Cavs in second half

The Pacers shot 43 percent and used a torrid third quarter to earn a 99-93 win over Cavaliers in Summer League action Friday

LAS VEGAS – The Indiana Pacers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 99-93, in the 2026 NBA Summer League at Cox Pavilion on Friday.

The Pacers (1-0) were led by Rienk Mast, who finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Taevion Kinsey led the bench with 16 points in 16 minutes.

There were six ties and five lead changes, but Indiana rode a 32-15 third quarter to its victory. The Pacers got their lead up to 21 points at times despite Cleveland making things tight behind a 37-24 fourth quarter.

Indiana shot 43.1% from the field and 28.2% from 3-point range while holding the Cavaliers to 38.2% from the field and 25 .0% from long range.

The Pacers also led the Cavaliers in assists (21-17) and rebounds (56-50). They also recorded eight blocks while the Cavs had just three.

Indiana’s Jalen Slawson provided 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and five blocks, while Taelon Peter totaled 13 points and three assists.

The Cavaliers (0-1) were led by Nae’Qwan Tomlin, tallying 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Meleek Thomas matched those 20 points, adding five rebounds and three assists to his stat line.

Malaki Branham had 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

On deck for Indiana is a matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday (5:30 ET, Prime Video). The Cavaliers face the Detroit Pistons on Sunday (4 ET, Prime Video) for their next game.
