SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Kings defeated the Brooklyn Nets, 79-76, in the 2026 California Classic Summer League at Golden 1 Center on Saturday.
Nique Clifford was the hero, hitting a game-winning 3-pointer with 5.0 seconds remaining.
It looked like there could be a Nets blowout when they led by 18 points midway through the second quarter, but the Kings responded by going on a 27-9 run to tie the game at halftime.
Brooklyn recaptured a 10-point lead with 6:52 remaining, but Sacramento closed the game on a 19-6 run to prevail. There were six ties and 10 lead changes in total. The Kings recorded 13 assists to 9 turnovers, while the Nets had 8 assists to 20 turnovers.
Sacramento (1-0) was led by No. 7 overall pick Darius Acuff Jr., who amassed 25 points, two rebounds and four assists. Clifford, the No. 24 overall pick at the 2025 NBA Draft, collected 14 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Emanuel Sharp had 13 points and two steals, while Dylan Cardwell compiled eight points, eight rebounds, two steals and four blocks.
The Nets (0-1) were led by Egor Dëmin, who finished with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Chaney Johnson tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Saraf totaled 10 points and five boards while Tyler Bilodeau provided nine points and six rebounds.
Both teams play again on Sunday, with Brooklyn matching up against the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento facing Golden State Warriors Blue.
