Pre-Draft Outlook
After installing new management a year ago, the Wizards went about shuffling the deck in preparation for a reinvention. It’s safe to say that all has gone well. The club made midseason deals to add accomplished veterans in Anthony Davis and Trae Young to a young developmental core. And now the incoming piece from the draft very well could be the building block this franchise has long desired. It’s a new day in D.C.
The Way to Go
This draft doesn’t feature a singular, transformational talent like a Victor Wembanyama, but at least two come close enough. And of those, AJ Dybantsa has the size and athletic ability to push him past Darryn Peterson. That’s the safe (and, perhaps,) smart choice for the Wizards, who need to nail this decision for the sake of the future. Dybantsa has the look of greatness and just as important, high entertainment value.
