Pre-Draft Outlook
Over the past year, the Suns went from a 36-win team that missed the postseason despite having the league’s top payroll to a 45-win team that returned to the playoffs (and got swept by OKC in the first round) with a middle-of-the-pack payroll. Phoenix’s retooled roster was more successful on the court this season, while also giving the front office more options entering this offseason.
The Way to Go
The Suns are without a first-round pick this year and do not control their first-round selection for six of the next seven drafts. Instead, they will need to focus on bringing back key talent (such as Collin Gillespie), developing young players (such as 2025 No. 10 pick Khaman Maluach), and maneuvering between free agency and trades to round out the roster. With the 47th pick, Phoenix will likely be in “take the best player available” mode, though they could seek frontline help to complement an already deep backcourt.
