Meleek Thomas 2026 Draft Media Availability

Meleek Thomas addresses the media after being selected No. 34 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Overview
Meleek Thomas arrived at Arkansas as ESPN’s number three point guard in the country and one of the most polished shooters in the 2026 class. The Pittsburgh native built his reputation at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School before spending a fifth prep year at Overtime Elite in Atlanta. Playing for John Calipari in Fayetteville, Thomas carved out a role next to Darius Acuff and grew into it as the season unfolded, eventually starting 21 of Arkansas’s 37 games. He averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in 30.5 minutes per game, with shooting splits of 43%/42%/84%. He closed the year on the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Analysis
Thomas is a movement shooter with a quick, high release. His efficiency from three held up on heavy volume against SEC competition, and he’s developed a dangerous pull-up jumper as well. Thomas took excellent care of the ball running the offense beside another high-usage guard. He plays with a motor defensively, jumping passing lanes often, and has the lateral quickness to stay in front of his man. At 189 pounds with combo-guard size, he has room to add functional strength and become a more downhill player.

Projection
Thomas projects as an off-ball guard who spaces the floor and keeps an NBA offense running next to a primary creator. His shooting versatility and decision-making point to a rotation role, and his defensive activity raises his floor. NBA comparisons to Thomas can be made to Anfernee Simons, Tyler Herro and J.R. Smith. Thomas could be an immediate contributor for a team that needs perimeter shooting and secondary creation, and his trajectory points toward a long career as a high-end role player with starter upside.
