Overview
Cameron Carr’s father, Chris, was runner-up to Kobe Bryant in the 1997 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and spent six seasons in the NBA. Cameron started his prep career at Manhattan High School in Kansas before transferring to Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, where he captured the 2023 GEICO Nationals after winning the 2022 Nike EYBL Peach Jam title with MoKan Elite. The four-star recruit chose Tennessee, but his time in Knoxville stalled out across an inconsistent freshman year and an injury-shortened sophomore campaign before he transferred to Baylor midseason. He announced himself last summer at the 2025 Summer World University Games in Germany, where he averaged 18.2 points and dropped 26 in the gold medal game on the way to a silver. The breakout carried straight into Waco. Carr averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 blocks in 33.7 minutes per game on 49%/37%/80% splits, earning Third-Team All-Big 12, Big 12 All-Newcomer Team, NABC Gulf District First Team and College Basketball Crown All-Tournament Team honors.
Analysis
Carr hits from deep with a quick release and was efficient in college as a high-usage wing. Inside the arc, he was even more dangerous, finishing well above the rim and converting on roughly seven of every ten rim attempts. His impressive wingspan and shot-blocking instincts helped his defensive impact, where he ranked among the best wing shot-blockers in the country. The handle is still rounding into form, which only adds to his long-term upside given how productive he already is operating mostly off the catch. Adding strength to his frame will help on both sides of the ball.
Projection
Carr’s mix of size, shooting and athleticism makes him a clean fit for the modern NBA wing. He profiles as a 3-and-D wing with secondary scoring potential, the type who can space out a starting unit, attack closeouts in a straight line and rise above the rim on cuts and putbacks. Carr draws NBA comparisons to wings like Brandon Miller, Trey Murphy III and Devin Vassell. Carr will be an immediate rotation contributor on a team that needs perimeter shooting and switchable length. The long-term upside as a self-creator and full-time starter is there once the handle and frame catch up to the rest of his game.
