Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the Bucks franchise in four major stat categories: points, rebounds, assists and blocks.
The Milwaukee Bucks have made 36 playoff appearances in franchise history, winning two championships. Their most recent title came during the 2020-21 season. Let’s highlight their top five all-time block leaders.
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo, 1,064 Blocks
The Bucks selected Antetokounmpo with the 15th pick in the 2013 Draft. He made a significant leap in the 2016-17 season, winning the Most Improved Player Award and making his first All-Star team. Since then, he has won two MVP Awards and finished in the top five for MVP votes seven times. His highest season average for blocks was during the 2018-19 season where he charted 1.9 rejections per game.
2. Brook Lopez, 990 Blocks
Lopez began his career with the Nets, then played one season for the Lakers before landing with the Bucks. He spent eight seasons in Milwaukee, finishing inside the top 10 in Defensive Player of the Year voting two times with the franchise. He averaged at least 2.0 blocks in a season five times in his career, four of which came with the Bucks. His versatility was key for the Bucks as he also averaged at least 1.4 3-pointers in each of his seasons with the franchise.
3. Alton Lister, 804 Blocks
The Bucks selected Lister with the 21st pick in the 1981 Draft. He spent the first five seasons of his career with the franchise, missing a total of just six games along the way. After playing the next four seasons as a member of the Warriors, Lister would have another stint with the Bucks before finishing up his career with the Celtics and Trail Blazers. In 471 career games with the Bucks, Lister averaged 1.7 blocks.
4. Harvey Catchings, 709 blocks
Catchings played for four different teams during his career. He spent five seasons with the Bucks, but didn’t log more than 21 minutes per game in any of them. Still, he averaged at least 2.0 blocks per game three times. During the 1980-81 season, he averaged a career-high 2.4 blocks over 77 games. In 372 career games with the Bucks, Catchings averaged 1.9 blocks in just 20 minutes per game.
5. Andrew Bogut, 642 Blocks
Bogut was the first overall pick in the 2005 Draft. He played in all 82 games for the Bucks during his rookie season, finishing third in the voting for Rookie of the Year. He had three separate seasons in which he averaged at least 2.0 blocks per game and he finished inside the top 10 in Defensive Player of the Year voting two times with the Bucks. In his final season with the Bucks, he was limited to just 12 games because of injury. Across 408 career games with the franchise, he averaged 1.6 blocks. Bogut played for four other teams after his time with the Bucks, including 247 games as a member of the Warriors.
