Reports: Thunder acquire Jared McCain in trade with Sixers

The 2nd-year guard reportedly is headed to the Thunder for future Draft picks.

Jared McCain is averaging 6.6 points and 1.7 assists over 37 games this season.

The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder reportedly have agreed to a deal to acquire guard Jared McCain from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for four future draft picks, according to multiple reports.

Thunder receive:

  • Jared McCain

Sixers receive:

  • 2026 first-round pick
  • Three future second-round picks

McCain, the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, is averaging 6.6 points, 1.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game over 37 games this season.

It represents a slow start compared to his rookie season, when he dominated with averages of 15.3 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds before his campaign was cut short after 23 games due to a left knee injury.

McCain set an NBA rookie record by making at least three 3-pointers in eight consecutive games last November, when he also scored 20 or more points in seven straight games. He started eight games and was an instant fan favorite out of Duke in large part after amassing nearly 5 million followers as a TikTok sensation.

He is under contract through the 2026-27 season and joins the Thunder (40-11), who have the best record in the NBA. They could use help at the guard spot with reigning Kia NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recently sidelined with an abdominal strain.
