Thunder re-sign Isaiah Hartenstein through 2028-29 season

Oklahoma City has agreed to a fresh 3-year contract extension with center Isaiah Hartenstein.

The Thunder and Isaiah Hartenstein have reportedly agreed on a 3-year contract.

The Thunder are retaining a key part of their championship core. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on June 26 that Oklahoma City has agreed to a three-year contract extension with center Isaiah Hartenstein. The Thunder made the deal official on July 6.

The 28-year-old originally signed a 3-year deal with the Thunder for $87 million before the 2024-25 campaign, and the Thunder held a $28.5 million team option for the final year – the upcoming 2026-27 season.

His new deal, according to Charania, is for $75 million over three seasons, and binds him with the Thunder through 2028-29.

The 7-foot center averaged 11.2 points per game in the Thunder’s championship season, and he averaged 9.2 points per game on 62.2% shooting this year. He has been a two-year starter for the Thunder, who have gone 88-16 in the past two regular seasons when he plays — and started 20 of the 23 Thunder games in the 2025 playoff run that ended in an NBA title.

“Hart has been great,” Oklahoma City executive vice president and general manager Sam Presti said when this past season ended. “He’s been a big factor in a lot of our success. Also, I know whenever I talk about him, I never want to not mention just the amount of community work this guy has done here in such a short amount of time. Just unbelievable. Him and his family, they have put two feet into this community and given it a huge hug. He’s been wonderful off the floor as well.”

The Thunder have dealt two other members of their bench already this offseason, sending Aaron Wiggins to the Hawks and Isaiah Joe to the Pistons.
