Spurs coach Mitch Johnson is having a charmed second season.
Johnson has led San Antonio to a 33-16 record in its first 49 games this season, and he was announced Sunday as a head coach for the 2026 All-Star Game.
Johnson, the Western Conference Head Coach of the Month for December, and his staff will get an opportunity to coach one of the three teams at the All-Star Game.
The Spurs have the second-best record in the West.
Mark Daigneault, coach of the West-leading Thunder, was not eligible because he coached in the 2025 All-Star Game.

Johnson led the Spurs to a 32-45 record last season after taking over for an ailing Gregg Popovich, and he said Sunday he’s looking forward to the All-Star experience.
