The San Antonio Spurs have made 47 playoff appearances in franchise history and won five championships along the way. Let’s highlight their top five all-time steals leaders.
1. Manu Ginobili, 1,392 Steals
The Spurs took Ginobili in the second round of the 1999 Draft. He went on to win four NBA titles while spending his entire career with the franchise. He made two All-Star teams and was named the Sixth Man of the Year during the 2007-08 season. For steals, his best performance was when he averaged 1.8 per game during the 2003-04 season. He averaged at least 1.4 steals in each of his first nine seasons. In his 16 years, Ginobili averaged 1.3 steals.
2. David Robinson, 1,388 Steals
Robinson also spent his entire career with the Spurs, winning two championships in 1999 and 2003. He was named the Rookie of the Year for the 1989-90 season, the Defensive Player of the Year for the 1991-92 season and the MVP of the 1994-95 season. In 1991-92, he averaged 2.3 steals and 4.5 blocks per game. For his career, he averaged 1.4 steals over 14 years.
3. George Gervin, 1,159 Steals
Gervin played in both the NBA and the ABA. He made 12 All-Star teams during his career and led the league in scoring four times during his tenure with the Spurs. He also had three separate seasons in which he averaged at least 1.6 steals per game. Across 12 years with the franchise, Gervin averaged 1.3 steals per game.
4. Alvin Robertson, 1,128 Steals
The Spurs selected Robertson with the seventh pick in the 1984 Draft. He was a defensive stalwart, leading the league in steals three times. He won the Defensive Player of the Year Award for the 1985-86 campaign and averaged 3.7 steals per game. That began a streak of four straight seasons in which he averaged at least 3.0 steals per game. In total, he averaged 2.9 steals per game across five years with the Spurs.
5. Tony Parker, 1,032 Steals
The Spurs selected Parker with the 28th pick in the 2001 Draft. He made six All-Star teams and won four championships. Parker averaged 1.2 steals per game in three separate seasons. He averaged 0.8 steals per game with the franchise over his 17 seasons.
