Portland has agreed to send the draft rights to No. 11 overall pick Cedric Coward to the Grizzlies, the teams announced Wednesday. The Blazers will receive the No. 16 overall pick Yang Hansen, a 2028 first-round pick via Orlando, a 2027 second-round pick (via Atlanta) and a 2028 second-round pick (via Sacramento) for Coward.

Grizzlies receive:

  • Cedric Coward (No. 11 overall)

Blazers receive:

  • Yang Hansen (No. 16 overall)
  • 2028 first-round pick (via Orlando)
  • 2027 second-round pick (via Atlanta)
  • 2028 second-round pick (via Sacramento)

The trade, which will be finalized at a later date, comes on the heels of another reported deal that would see Blazers guard Anfernee Simons traded to Boston in exchange for veteran guard Jrue Holiday. Portland has not made the playoffs since 2021.

Memphis, meanwhile, continues its offseason overhaul a week after trading guard Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in exchange for a slew of Draft picks.

Coward may be able to supply some of what the Grizzlies lost in Bane. The 6-foot-5 swingman shot 38.8% from 3-point range during his three-year college career and averaged a combined 2.5 blocks and steals in his junior year at Washington State.

Yang was somewhat of a surprise at No. 16 overall. The 19-year-old Hansen at 7-foot-1 led the Chinese Basketball Association in blocks and somewhat compares to Grizzlies center Zach Edey.
