How NBA players performed at 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

International competition continues July 2-8 with several NBA players participating in FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 qualifiers.

Jonas Valančiūnas posted a double-double for Lithuania in a win over Great Britain.

Another window in the FIBA qualifiers are underway, featuring plenty of NBA talent representing their countries. The July window runs from the 2nd to the 6th for the European qualifiers and to the 8th for the Americas qualifiers as nations compete for spots in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

July 3

Bahamas vs. Jamaica 

VJ Edgecombe went off for a game-high 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds in Bahamas’ 123-74 rout of Jamaica. Buddy Hield added 15 points in the win.

Canada vs. Puerto Rico 

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (26 points) and Andrew Nembhard (23 points) helped Canada cruise to a 110-84 win. Dillon Brooks, Kyshawn George and Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 15, 9 and 8 points respectively for Canada. Enrique Freeman tallied 10 points in a losing effort for Puerto Rico.

France vs. Belgium

France held off Belgium 80-72 behind its NBA core of Bilal Coulibaly, Rudy Gobert, Maxime Raynaud, Zaccharie Risacher and Guerschon Yabusele. Coulibaly led France with 13 points, while Gobert added 8 points and 11 rebounds.

Finland vs. Hungary

Finland earned an 85-77 victory over Hungary behind 23 points from Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen, who shot 7-for-14 from the field.

Cyprus vs. Croatia

Ivica Zubac dominated in Croatia’s 123-50 win over Cyprus, finishing with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks while shooting 10-for-13 from the field. Dario Šarić added 21 points and 10 rebounds, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field.

Israel vs. Germany

Germany edged Israel 92-86 in a hard-fought contest. Israel was without star Deni Avdija, while Dennis Schröder led the Germans with 20 points and 9 assists in the victory.

Dominican Republic vs. United States 

Jay Huff (12 points) and Orlando Robinson (10) points helped USA pull out an 82-81 nail-biter against DR.

Sweden vs. Czechia

Sweden held off Czechia 87-76, despite 14 points and 5 assists from Czech NBA player Vít Krejčí.

Australia vs. Guam

Tyrese Proctor poured in a team-high 22 points to lead Australia’s dominant 124-52 win.

China vs. Japan 

Japan rolled past China 92-73, despite 9 points and 7 boards from Hansen Yang.

 


July 2

Ukraine vs. Georgia

Ukraine cruised to a 95-76 victory over Georgia in the qualifiers behind a dominant performance from Svi Mykhailiuk, who finished with 28 points, 4 steals and 2 blocks.

Lithuania vs. Great Britain

Lithuania took care of business against Great Britain, winning 105-85 behind its NBA trio. Jonas Valančiūnas led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, while Kasparas Jakučionis had 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Matas Buzelis added 12 points.

Spain vs. Denmark

Spain had no trouble with Denmark, rolling to a 109-81 victory behind Hugo González, who finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Switzerland vs. Serbia

Serbia defeated Switzerland 97-73 behind 22 points apiece from Nikola Jokić and Nikola Jović. Jokić also stuffed the stat sheet with 14 rebounds and seven assists.

Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Türkiye

Türkiye defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 82-75 behind NBA contributions from Alperen Sengun (14 points) and Adem Bona (6 points, 2 blocks). Luka Garza led Bosnia and Herzegovina with 27 points in the loss.
