LAS VEGAS — A balanced effort on both ends of the floor and sharp offensive performances from Jordan Walsh and Charles Bassey powered the Boston Celtics to a 92-78 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in an NBA 2K26 Summer League battle at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Friday afternoon.
Boston was up against a Grizzlies squad boasting a significant amount of regular-season NBA experience, but the Celtics exerted their will during the first half, building a 49-36 lead. Memphis responded with its best quarter in the third – the Grizzlies enjoyed a 25-19 advantage during the period – but Boston’s defense clamped down again during the final quarter to allow the Celtics to win going away. Boston enjoyed as much as an 18-point lead at one point, and its second unit outscored Memphis’ reserves by an expansive 41-15 margin.
GG Jackson led the Grizzlies with 16 points, supplementing them with four rebounds and two assists. Cam Spencer followed with 15 points, three rebounds and two assists. Armando Bacot furnished 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and one block. Jaylen Wells supplied 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
Walsh paced the Celtics with 17 points on 50% shooting, adding three rebounds and two assists. Bassey generated a bench-high 14 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds and recorded two blocks. Rookie first-round pick Hugo Gonzalez turned in 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Kenneth Lofton Jr. managed 11 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block. Rookie second-round pick Amari Williams finished with nine points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks.
The Grizzlies return to action on Saturday night against the Trail Blazers, while the Celtics face off with the Knicks on Sunday afternoon.
