A San Antonio Spurs team playing without rookie first-round pick Stephon Castle managed to claw its way to a 79-76 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in an NBA 2K25 Summer League battle at Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

A reports later surfaced that Castle is out for the remainder of Summer League after spraining his right wrist during Saturday’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

A nip-and-tuck affair that would feature 14 lead changes and 13 ties started with a competitive first half that culminated with the Hawks holding a slim 37-36 lead. The Spurs managed to forge their own two-point advantage heading into the final period, and the contest wasn’t decided until Nathan Mensah’s pair of free throws with a second remaining. Both clubs shot under 35.0 percent and pulled down 57 rebounds apiece.

D’Moi Hodge led the Spurs with 13 points, adding two rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Jamaree Bouyea turned in 12 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals. Mensah tallied 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.

E.J. Liddell paced the Hawks with 22 points, complementing them with five rebounds and four blocks. Robert Baker posted 13 points, six rebounds, one assist and four steals. Rookie first overall pick Zaccharie Risacher delivered 11 points, five boards, two assists and one block. Mouhamed Gueye supplied 10 points, nine boards, three assists, one steal and one block.

The Spurs next take the floor Tuesday evening against the New Orleans Pelicans, while the Hawks tangle with the Lakers on Wednesday night.
