Jayson Tatum knocks down 8 of the Celtics’ NBA record-tying 29 3-pointers on opening night of the 2024-25 season.
On a night when the defending champion Boston Celtics received their championship rings, they decided to make some NBA history, too. The Celtics tied the Bucks’ NBA record on Oct. 22, 2024, for most 3-pointers made in game with 29 in their 132-109 victory against the New York Knicks on the opening night of the 2024-25 season. Jayson Tatum went 8-for-11 on triples en route to a team-high 37 points for Boston.
One season later, they tied their own record again, finishing with 29 total 3-pointers made in a 144-118 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on April 10, 2026 to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Sam Hauser led the way this time, shooting 8-for-12 from deep.
Just four days earlier, the Memphis Grizzlies had also joined the Celtics and Bucks in the record books, hitting 29 total 3-pointers of their own in a 142-126 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on April 6, 2026.
