
Ja Morant stands at the top of the Grizzlies’ all-time single-season scoring list.
The Memphis Grizzlies weren’t established until the 1995-96 season. When they first entered the NBA, they were based in Vancouver but have now found their home in Memphis where Grit and Grind have taken root. Let’s highlight their top five all-time single-season points-per-game leaders.
1. Ja Morant, 2022-23, 26.2 Points Per Game
Selected second overall by the Grizzlies in the 2019 Draft, Morant won Rookie of the Year, averaging 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game. He averaged 27.4 points in 2021-22, earning his first All-Star selection, despite appearing in just 57 games. In 2022-23, he played 61 games, made another All-Star team, and averaged 26.2 points per game.
2. Shareef Abdur-Rahim, 1998-99, 23.0 Points Per Game
Selected third overall in the 1996 Draft, Abdur-Rahim averaged 18.7 points per game as a rookie, finishing third in Rookie of the Year voting. He averaged at least 20.3 points per game in each of the next four seasons. In 1998-99, he set a career high with 23.0 points per game, shooting 43.2% from the field on 17.9 attempts per game.
3. Jaren Jackson Jr., 2023-24, 22.5 Points Per Game
The Grizzlies selected Jackson fourth overall in the 2018 Draft. Known for his rim protection, he won Defensive Player of the Year in 2022-23. His scoring has also increased, averaging 17.6 shot attempts per game, including 5.5 three-point attempts in 2023-24. He averaged 22.5 points, despite shooting 44.4% from the field.
4. Shareef Abdur-Rahim, 1997-98, 22.3 Points Per Game
Abdur-Rahim followed his strong rookie campaign with 22.3 points per game in 1997-98, one of his most efficient seasons at 48.5% shooting. He played five seasons with the Grizzlies before moving to the Hawks, finishing his career with four different teams. With the Grizzlies, he averaged 20.8 points per game over his tenure.
5. Jaren Jackson Jr., 2024-25, 22.2 Points Per Game
Jackson continued to expand his scoring in his seventh season, topping 20+ points per game for the second straight campaign. He upped his field goal percentage to 49%, shooting 38% from three-point range as well, and did it all in just 29.8 minutes per game.
