Luka Dončić addresses Lakers fans ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Luka Dončić has his sights set on a championship as he prepares to begin his first full season as the primary leader of the Los Angeles Lakers.
In a letter to Lakers fans published on Wednesday to the Los Angeles Times, the NBA’s 2025-26 scoring champion shared his expectations for the season and thanked the city for welcoming him following his arrival in L.A.
“Tonight we start our run for a championship,” Dončić wrote. “We have a special team. We know what you expect, and we are going to do everything in our power to deliver it.”

The Lakers begin their 2026-27 campaign Wednesday night against Golden State (10 ET, ESPN) with Dončić returning to the floor for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury on April 2. The injury sidelined him for the remainder of last season.
