Raptors take care of Blazers without Deni 🦖

The Trail Blazers were one of the league’s hottest teams after building a 9-2 record in January, but Toronto poured water on their recent hot streak. The Raptors’ defense set the tone by holding Portland to only 12 first-quarter points.

Down the stretch, impressive shots like the one below from Brandon Ingram sealed the deal.

Halfcourt heave hits front rim, Nuggets win 😲

Kyle Kuzma nearly sank an incredible game-winning shot, but the crazy comeback wasn’t meant to be. Ryan Rollins drilled a pair of high-difficulty threes to even give his team a chance. In the end, the hole Milwaukee dug was too deep to climb out of.

Denver wins despite entering very short-handed. The Nuggets five leading players in minutes per game all sat this one, some for injury and some for rest. Julian Strawther and Tim Hardaway Jr. both delivered in their absences as they finished with 20 and 17 points respectively.

Giannis exits late, returns to bench ⚠️

The Nuggets entered the fourth quarter leading by 15 points, but find themselves reeling in the closing moments. Giannis Antetokounmpo was headed to the locker room in the final minute after tweaking his leg – before returning to the bench after hearing the crowd roar for a Ryan Rollins three that cut the lead to two.

What a luxury it must be to finish a standing dunk over a 7’2″ center. That’s exactly what Scottie Barnes pulled off as the Raptors try to slam the door shut on a Portland comeback attempt.

It’s now or never for Milwaukee after cutting Denver’s lead to single digits. They still have an uphill battle to complete the last-second comeback, but after some of tonight’s games – anything can happen!

Shaedon Sharpe is in the middle of a scoring tear and his team will need more if they want to defeat Toronto. Sharpe has 17 points to lead all scorers tonight. as the fourth quarter gets underway.

Bucks get blitzed in 3Q 🤕

Tim Hardaway Jr. is letting loose on the rim tonight after a second major slam dunk. The sharpshooter isn’t the only Denver playing finishing at the rim with authority as Zeke Nnaji filled the lane in transition for another slam.

The Nuggets have it going from outside as well, as Julian Strawther gets the deep shot to fall. This one is all Denver as the final quarter gets underway.

JJ leads the way for ATL, Booker & Green go down

The Suns entered riding three consecutive wins, but that streak ended along with tough breaks in the injury department. Jalen Green has sparingly played this season and was forced to exit again in the first quarter due to a lingering hamstring issue. In the third quarter, Devin Booker’s night ended after rolling his ankle.

Atlanta capitalized thanks to big nights from Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu. The duo had 23 and 25 points respectively, while newcomer CJ McCollum added 21 points off the bench.

Rockets leave Detroit with the W 🚀

This win for Houston was a reminder of their ceiling. Detroit has been a juggernaut all year, but could not slow down Houston’s attack in the second half. Kevin Durant led the way in scoring as Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun and Reed Sheppard each had strong showings as well.

The game got chippy at several points, especially late, but after the final buzzer it was all love between twins Amen and Ausar Thompson.

Celtics somehow survive 😰

This game saw multiple plot twists in the closing moments of regulation, and then again in the first overtime. Boston appeared to have the game in hand, except Nic Claxton’s tip-in with one second remaining sent the game to overtime.

Brooklyn seized momentum in the final moments of the first overtime after a stellar sequence from Noah Clowney, but a Hugo Gonzalez three nearly at the buzzer gave Boston new life. In the second overtime, Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard guided their team to victory.

Nightcap check-in 🌚

After a frenzied finish to the early tip-offs, the night’s two final games now come into focus.

  • Denver and Milwaukee are locked in a defensive battle. The Bucks trail by eight coming out of halftime.
  • Portland is hoping to defeat Toronto at home without Deni Avdija. The breakout star was scratched before the game due to back tightness, but his team is holding steady with the Raptors midway through the second quarter.

Pacers beat OKC … wait WHAT ?!?

That just happened. The night’s most unpredictable outcome came to fruition as Indiana took down the reigning champs in their own building. Andrew Nembhard tapped into his NBA Finals bag and delivered 27 points while also guarding Shai Gilgeous-Alexander throughout. The reigning MVP had his second straight 40-point game in defeat.

Aaron Nesmith gave his team the shot in the arm it needed late with a powerful one-handed flush.

  • The Pacers are nearing an upset on the Oklahoma City Thunder in an NBA Finals rematch.
  • The Grizzlies and Pelicans are separated by just two points in the final 90 seconds in Memphis.

DOUBLE-OT IN BARCLAYS 🫠

Noah Clowney had a defining sequence that appeared to swing this game for good. He got a block on the defensive end followed by a triple that made the crowd erupt.

Celtics rookie Hugo Gonzalez stole the spotlight, though, after drilling a wide-open corner three in the final seconds of overtime. Boston had a chance thanks to a Payton Pritchard three on the prior possession and a missed free throw from Brooklyn rookie Nolan Traore.

This was the sole field goal attempt for the Greek Freak in the first quarter, who also dished out a handful of assists. He’ll try to lead his team to victory against the Nuggets who are still without Nikola Jokic.

Pacers will not go away in OKC

The fourth quarter is underway, and the Indiana Pacers still lead the Thunder in Oklahoma City. The teams have nearly inverse records, but Indiana is using a hot shooting night to stay afloat. They’ve drained 14 threes so far compared to just six for OKC, who is playing without Jalen Williams tonight.

Claxton forces OT in Barclays 😮

The Celtics needed to get one stop to win this game in regulation, after a split pair of free throws from Anfernee Simons left the door open for Brooklyn. The Boston defense did force a Michael Porter Jr. miss, but Nic Claxton had a textbook putback dunk to even the game with one second remaining and ultimately force overtime.

Track Meet in Memphis 😮‍💨

Points are aplenty tonight between the Grizzlies and Pelicans. Memphis leads 86-79 with five minutes to play in the third quarter, but that lead is far from safe given the amount of scoring we’ve seen so far. If either offense sputters, that could determine tonight’s winner.

The Celtics and Nets have gone back and forth all night long. After exchanging leads in the first three quarters, this one enters the final eight minutes all knotted up. Boston is without Derrick White due to rest, as they try to fend off Brooklyn down the stretch.

Booker hits milestone before exit ⚠️, Hawks trail in final quarter

Devin Booker was on pace for another big scoring night before needing help off the court with what appears to be an ankle injury. He exited with 31 points in 28 minutes, as his team’s lead over Atlanta is dwindling.

Jalen Johnson has been a one-man-band for the Hawks tonight, as he has been all season. He leads the NBA in double-doubles while also being one assist shy of another triple-double on the season.

Poster dunks, technical fouls & a raucous crowd 🍿

The fourth quarter between the Rockets and Pistons has been riveting, as Houston leads by eight in the final five minutes following a much-needed Josh Okogie three-pointer. Don’t count out Detroit, who has a frenzied crowd willing them on.

The first leg of tonight’s NBA on Prime double-header is living up to its billing.

The Pacers led by as many as 17 in this one, however the Thunder managed to trim that lead prior to halftime. Andrew Nembhard and Pascal Siakam are leading the charge against the group they went to game seven with of last year’s NBA Finals.

Reed Sheppard going off, Pistons attempting 4Q comeback 👀

The third quarter belonged to Houston, thanks in large to Reed Sheppard operating at a high level. The Rockets outscored Detroit 34-20 in that frame, but the Pistons have opened the fourth quarter on a 10-1 run.

Murphy has made several plays in transition so far tonight, but none sweeter than this reverse layup plus the foul. The Pelicans and Grizzlies are going back-and-forth with the halftime break approaching.

Sacramento’s three leading scorers tonight are all reserves. Domantas Sabonis, Dennis Schroeder and Malik Monk have a combined 41 points at halftime. Without their production Sacramento would be in very rough shape, instead they find themselves in the lead in Cleveland at halftime.

The second half is underway in the first leg of tonight’s NBA on Prime double-header. The first half had no shortage of electric plays and ended all tied at 52. The Pistons are getting good production from Jaden Ivey off the bench, while the Rockets are leaning on Kevin Durant for an offensive lift.

Sacramento fell down 16-2 in the opening minutes of the game, leading coach Doug Christie to sub out all five starters. Since then, the momentum has shifted drastically as the Kings made the Cavaliers early lead vanish. The first quarter ended all tied at 35.

The reigning champion Thunder are 20-3 when playing in front of their home crowd. That record bodes especially well next to the Indiana Pacers, who are just 2-19 this season when playing on the road. This one gets underway in moments.

Thompson Twins Clash Underway

Amen and Ausar Thompson made history the first twin brothers to be selected back-to-back in the 2023 NBA draft. After helping each other reach the highest level, they’ll be adversaries tonight.

The Rockets, 26-16, need the win to maintain positioning in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Pistons are 32-10 on the year, giving them a five-and-a-half game edge over the Boston Celtics who are currently second in the East.
