Domantas Sabonis had just returned to the Kings lineup last week after sitting out 6 straight games with a hamstring injury.
The Sacramento Kings announced on Tuesday that big man Domantas Sabonis will be out at least 10 days after suffering a moderate ankle sprain.
Sabonis suffered his injury in the third quarter of Monday’s 132-122 win against the Memphis Grizzlies. He also sustained a cut over his left eye and blood trickled down his face after he was hit in the face by the back of Luke Kennard’s head in that game as well.
Sabonis is the NBA’s rebounding leader (13.9 rpg) and he missed time earlier in March with a left hamstring injury he suffered against the Houston Rockets on March 1. That injury led to him missing five games. This absence comes as the Kings try to stay in the SoFi Play-In Tournament chase.
The Kings (34-33) have a two-game lead on the Dallas Mavericks (33-36) for the No. 9 seed and are up three games on the No. 11 team, the Phoenix Suns (32-37). Sacramento begins a six-game home stand on Wednesday but will then close the season playing six of its last nine games on the road.
