In a 3-team deal, John Collins heads to LA and Norm Powell is off to Miami while Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson ship out to Utah.
The LA Clippers and Miami Heat have added to their lineup in the offseason via a three-team trade officially announced on Monday.
In the swap, the Clippers deal Norman Powell to the Miami Heat, the Utah Jazz send John Collins to the Clippers and the Heat send Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a future Draft pick to Utah.

Powell enjoyed his best scoring season in 2024-25 with the Clippers, averaging 21.8 points per game while also posting 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 48.4% overall and 41.8% on 3-pointers. He was injured coming out of the All-Star break last season and was slowed in the Clippers’ first round series as his numbers dipped a bit (16 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.1 spg on 47.2% shooting and 35% on 3-pointers).
Miami spent its offseason shoring up its roster, inking versatile swingman Davion Mitchell to a two-year deal and picking up Simone Fontecchio in the reported sign-and-trade deal Duncan Robinson agreed to with the Pistons. Powell joins a core that includes Andrew Wiggins and All-Stars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro as Miami looks to rebound from a 37-45 season in which it lost in the SoFi Play-In Tournament.
Powell figures to give Miami much-needed scoring and shooting. The Heat were 24th out of 30 teams in points per game last season, plus have already seen the departure of Robinson — the team’s all-time 3-point leader — this summer.
Collins enjoyed a strong season for the Jazz, who finished last in the Western Conference. He posted 19 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2 apg and shot 52.7% overall and 39.9% on 3-pointers. He will join a Clippers squad that already features James Harden and Kawhi Leonard and gives the team frontcourt scoring punch alongside star big man Ivica Zubac.
The Clippers have kept the core of their team intact, signing Harden to a reported two-year deal while bringing back veteran forward Nicolas Batum and adding big man Brook Lopez in free agency, too. In adding Collins, the Clippers have a core roster that seems primed to contend with the West elite and build on the team’s 50-32 mark last season.
Love is an NBA champion, a five-time All-Star, a likely Hall of Famer when his playing days end and had expressed interest in possibly remaining with the Heat even past his current contract — which expires after the coming 2025-26 season.
“Never thought I’d be a math problem,” Love posted on social media after being informed of the trade. “Welcome to the NBA.”
The versatile Anderson (5.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.4 apg) was dealt to Miami at the trade deadline in the Andrew Wiggins-for-Jimmy Butler swap. He will be joining his sixth team, after previous stints with San Antonio, Memphis, Minnesota and Golden State.
