The Atlanta Hawks have locked up guard Dyson Daniels, signing him to a reported four-year, $100 million rookie contract extension. The Hawks made the deal official on Monday afternoon, the deadline to sign rookie-scale contract extensions.

“We are beyond thrilled to reach a long-term deal with Dyson, and we are excited to watch him continue to grow with our group,” Hawks general manager Onsi Saleh said in a statement. “This extension reflects our belief in him today and into the future.”

Daniels, who was the Kia Most Improved Player and made the All-Defensive First Team in 2024-25, was the runner-up for Kia Defensive Player of the Year. He finished last season with 229 steals, the most in a season since Gary Payton in 1995-96.

His 3.01 steals per game last season led the NBA and Daniels was the first player since Alvin Robertson in 1990-91 to average at least three steals per game. His 229 steals were the most in Hawks franchise history. He also led the league with 443 deflections.

Originally the No. 8 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, Daniels professional experience in Australia and consistent improvement in three NBA seasons are reasons why he’s a focal point to the Hawks future along with Trae Young, Jalen Johnson, and 2024 No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher.
