Magic's Franz Wagner (left ankle) out indefinitely

Orlando's swingman will be out as he continues to experience soreness in his left ankle, the team announced today.

Franz Wagner is averaging 21.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season for Orlando.

ORLANDO — Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner, who suffered a left high ankle sprain on Dec. 7 and has missed 25 games due to the injury, will be out indefinitely as he continues to experience soreness, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today.

Recent imaging confirmed Wagner requires additional time and rehabilitation before returning to full basketball activities. He will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks.

Wagner (6’10”, 230, 8/27/01) originally sustained a left high ankle sprain during the first quarter on Dec. 7 @New York and missed the next 16 games (Dec. 9-Jan. 11). He returned to play in his hometown of Berlin, Germany on Jan. 15 and again on Jan. 18 in London, England, but sat out the following nine games (Jan. 22-Feb. 7) as he managed the injury.

Wagner returned on a tight minutes restriction, coming off the bench to play 16 minutes on Feb. 9 vs. Milwaukee and 20 minutes on Feb. 11 against the Bucks.

Wagner has played in 28 regular-season games (26 starts) this season with Orlando, averaging 21.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.6 apg and 1 spg in 31.8 mpg, while shooting .828 (144-174) from the free throw line.
