Current players will select the winner from the six finalists, each of whom represents the six divisions in the NBA.
The players selected as finalists are below (listed alphabetically by last name):
- Bam Adebayo, Miami Heat (Southeast Division)
- Harrison Barnes, San Antonio Spurs (Southwest Division)
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder (Northwest Division)
- Al Horford, Golden State Warriors (Pacific Division)
- T.J. McConnell, Indiana Pacers (Central Division)
- Derrick White, Boston Celtics (Atlantic Division)
Jrue Holiday of the Portland Trail Blazers won the award last season.
