Current players will select the winner from the six finalists, each of whom represents the six divisions in the NBA.
The players selected as finalists are below (listed alphabetically by last name):
- Jarrett Allen, Cleveland Cavaliers (Central Division)
- Dorian Finney-Smith, Los Angeles Lakers (Pacific Division)
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder (Northwest Division)
- Jrue Holiday, Boston Celtics (Atlantic Division)
- Kyrie Irving, Dallas Mavericks (Southwest Division)
- Franz Wagner, Orlando Magic (Southeast Division)
Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers won the award last year.
