Veteran forward Danilo Gallinari announced his retirement from the NBA on Tuesday. He retires with 11,607 career points, the most ever for a player from Italy.

“Today, with a heart full of gratitude, I am announcing my retirement from the career I’ve always dreamed of,” Gallinari said in a statement posted on social media. “It’s been an incredible journey filled with countless memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”
Gallinari was selected out of Italy in 2008 with the No. 6 overall pick by the New York Knicks. The 6-foot-10 forward was an offensive specialist who could spread the floor with a career 3P% of 38.1% on 4.9 attempts per game. His game helped usher in the current era of bigs who can hit from deep.
He retires with career averages of 14.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists over 777 regular season games, and averages of 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists over 51 career playoff games. His final season was with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2023-24.
Gallinari is one of 299 players to play in 14 NBA seasons, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
