The Memphis Grizzlies have waived veteran guard D’Angelo Russell.
The Memphis Grizzlies are releasing 2015 No. 2 pick and former All-Star D’Angelo Russell, while also signing Brendan Hausen, the team announced.
The 30-year-old guard will become an unrestricted free agent after he clears the waiver wire process.
Russell was acquired by the Grizzlies from the Washington Wizards as part of a six-team trade in July. Last season, Russell averaged 10.2 points and 4.0 assists in 26 games with the Dallas Mavericks.
During his lone All-Star season in 2018-19 with the Brooklyn Nets, Russell averaged 21.1 points, 7.0 assists and 3.9 rebounds while leading a young, rebuilding team to the playoffs as a sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. He would go on to play for four different teams (Warriors, Timberwolves, Lakers, Mavericks) following his two-year Nets stint.
