Made of foam with a plastic coating, this 3D Wave sculpture is based on my signature wave motif. I layered different styles over the sculpture to create a vibrant ode to “the love of the game.” It mixes memories of outdoor basketball, watching the great players of the ’90s while growing up, and the sneaker culture associated with All-Star Weekend. Ultimately, I wanted to create a piece that reminds me of my own love for basketball.
About Aaron Kai
Hailing from the Big Island of Hawai’i, Aaron Kai’s artistic creations are rooted in Hilo Hamakua surf culture – as well as his fascination with Hawaiian tradition and the rich history of his ancestors. His iconic “wavy” art, first doodled between school classes, has been featured in murals and exhibitions around the world. Kai’s signature “wave design” is representative of the flow of nature and family, intertwining together in perfect harmony.
With notable collaborations with Heineken, Nike LA, Adidas, Samsung, Taco Bell, L.A. Rams, and MEDICOM, to name a few, Aaron Kai remains true to his signature style of vivid color combinations and bold lines that have taken him far and wide.
