Pre-Draft Outlook
In VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey, the Sixers have two star guards who are 20 and 25 years old, respectively. They also have two former Kia MVP candidates — Joel Embiid and Paul George — on the other side of 30. Both have missed many games over the last two years and are owed more than $230 million over the next two years. The Sixers also have a new front office: they fired team president Daryl Morey and replaced him with Mike Gansey shortly after the team was swept in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Way to Go
Embiid and George probably aren’t going anywhere, but the Gansey-led front office should be all-in on the Maxey-and-Edgecombe timeline. There should be some complementary bigs and big wings to choose from with the No. 22 pick, including Chris Cenac Jr., Isaiah Evans, Allen Graves and Morez Johnson Jr..
