Yaxel Lendeborg 2026 Draft Media Availability

Yaxel Lendeborg addresses the media after being selected No. 11 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Overview
Yaxel Lendeborg’s college basketball journey began at Arizona Western, where he became the NJCAA’s all-time leading rebounder, before heading to UAB, where he earned two First-Team All-AAC selections, two AAC Defensive Player of the Year awards and the 2024 AAC Tournament MVP. Despite the early-career success, his transfer to Michigan proved transformative, as Lendeborg captured Big Ten Player of the Year honors and a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team before leading the Wolverines to Big Ten and NCAA Tournament championships, making Michigan the first program to sweep both titles since Michigan State in 2000. Lendeborg averaged 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals on 52/37/82 shooting splits en route to being a consensus First-Team All-American.

Analysis
With elite production on both ends of the floor and a proven ability to elevate every program he’s joined, Lendeborg projects to be a versatile defender with an ever-expanding offensive game, where he can be a connector and spacer. However, he is old for a lottery prospect, as Lendeborg is just one year younger than budding superstars Anthony Edwards and Cade Cunningham. It’s unclear how much Lendeborg has left to unlock, but his playstyle fits the NBA perfectly, and he’s arguably the most pro-ready player in the 2026 class.

Projection
With a 7-foot-4 wingspan, it’s easy to envision Lendeborg being an elite defensive stopper like OG Anunoby early in his career before adding to his offensive game. Lendeborg also shares similar styles and physical traits to Keegan and Kris Murray, who both spent multiple years at Iowa before developing into NBA talents. Lendeborg will also draw archetype comparisons to Thaddeus Young and Aaron Gordon, who’ve enjoyed long, successful careers after being unpolished prospects coming out of college.
