Overview
A two-sport star (football and basketball) at Florida State University High School in Tallahassee, Donaldson committed to Auburn, where he spent two seasons developing as a reserve. He transferred to Michigan for his junior season, helping the Wolverines win the Big Ten Tournament as a full-time starter before landing at Miami for his senior year. Donaldson set career-highs across the board under first-year coach Jai Lucas, averaging 16.4 points, 5.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals on 45%/36%/82% shooting splits. He earned Second-Team All-ACC honors and was a key contributor in Miami’s turnaround from 7-24 to 26-9, including an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Analysis
Donaldson’s best attribute is his pace, as he’s consistently forcing the action in transition and pick-and-roll situations. He’s a point-of-attack defender, using his frame to pressure ballhandlers and generate steals without being reckless. Offensively, he can create off the bounce, hit the pull-up mid-range jumper and showed genuine improvement as a distributor in his final collegiate season. The question marks center on his shooting consistency, as his accuracy dropped when he handled increased usage.

Projection
Donaldson’s competitive motor and defensive intensity will appeal to scouts, and his ability to handle the ball and push pace should give him an offensive identity. His NBA journey will likely have to resemble that of Cason Wallace or Jamal Shead, who both had to earn playing time through defensive grit before expanding their offensive games.
