Overview
Carroll redshirted his first year at Florida Atlantic before playing a minor role on FAU’s 2023 Final Four team. He broke out as a junior in 2024-25, earning AAC Co-Most Improved Player honors and Second-Team All-AAC recognition after averaging 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1 block per game while shooting 39% on 3-pointers. Carroll then transferred to Xavier and became the Musketeers’ engine, leading the team in scoring and earning First-Team All-Big East honors, becoming only the fifth player in school history to receive the distinction. He averaged 17.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 blocks on 50/33/71 splits.
Analysis
Carroll can score from all three levels, and he’s not afraid of difficult looks. His footwork in the post is advanced, and he weaponizes a quick release over smaller defenders regularly. Defensively, he’s shown flashes of being an elite disruptor, blocking and altering shots at the rim while using his long frame to rack up deflections on the perimeter. Carroll is an older prospect whose offensive efficiency dropped against tougher competition, but the upside and versatility should intrigue NBA scouts.
Projection
Carroll is a second-round to undrafted prospect who can contribute in multiple ways without dominating the ball. The ability to score from anywhere at his size while being versatile defensively is reminiscent of Naz Reid, who’s gone from undrafted player to Sixth Man of the Year, but that would be a best-case outcome for Carroll, who’ll likely have to start his pro career in the NBA G League and earn minutes as a defensive stopper like Leonard Miller.
