Overview
Mark Mitchell tied for the lead in scoring at the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Game with 19 points, putting an exclamation mark on a high school career that earned him five-star status from Rivals and 247Sports. At Bishop Miege in Kansas, he averaged 21.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 blocks as a sophomore, claimed the DiRenna Award as the top player in the Kansas City area, and led the Stags to a Class 4A state championship. He transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy for his senior year and averaged 17.6 points and 6.3 rebounds before committing to Duke. Mitchell started 35 games as a Blue Devils freshman and another 32 as a sophomore before transferring to Missouri. As a senior, he averaged 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 33.7 minutes per game while shooting 55%/39%/67%. He earned Second Team All-SEC honors and was named to the NABC Central District Second Team.

Analysis
Mitchell uses his frame to overpower defenders on drives and converts with efficiency at the basket. In terms of jumpshooting, the forward took a major leap from beyond the arc between his junior and senior seasons. He also developed into a secondary playmaker as a senior. He embraces contact, attacks the offensive glass, plays with a relentless motor and has the physical tools to guard multiple positions at the next level.

Projection
Mitchell projects as a versatile forward who can finish above the rim, defend multiple positions and do some secondary playmaking. His four-year college pedigree, McDonald’s All-American background and senior-year breakout point to a player ready to step into a rotation spot. NBA comparisons to Mitchell can be made to players like Jared Vanderbilt, Precious Achiuwa and Naji Marshall.
