Get to Know Kingston Flemings
Kingston Flemings sits down with Lauren Green from NBA TV to discuss the NBA Draft.
Overview
Kingston Flemings was an elite prospect, earning Texas Mr. Basketball in 2025 and playing in the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic before heading to Houston, where he immediately became a star. The 6-foot-3 guard appeared in 37 games, averaging 16.1 points, 5.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while posting 48/39/85 shooting splits. Flemings capped off a fantastic freshman campaign by earning consensus second-team All-American honors, and he was named to the All-Big 12 first team and the Big 12 All-Freshman team. He was also a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award. Flemings turned 19 in January and was the Cougars’ best player all season, leading them to the Big 12 Championship Game and a Sweet Sixteen appearance.
Analysis
Flemings’ athleticism and speed stood out at the collegiate level, but his technical skills were also well beyond his years, making him an intriguing lottery prospect. To play for Kelvin Sampson at Houston, you need to buy in defensively, and Flemings took it a step further, becoming an elite on-ball defender capable of terrorizing opposing point guards. Offensively, Flemings could’ve leaned on being bigger and faster, and while he did that at times, he also showed immense maturity and poise for a youngster. He nearly had three assists to every turnover while being the Cougars’ primary ball-handler. When coupled with his elite shooting splits, it’s easy to see why most scouts think Flemings’ game will translate well to the next level.
Projection
Flemings could have an immediate all-around impact like VJ Edgecombe, who was more efficient offensively as a rookie than he was during his lone season at Baylor. Given their two-way abilities, Flemings has also drawn comparisons to De’Aaron Fox, who shot only 24.6 percent from deep in college and is a career 33.1 percent three-point shooter across nine NBA seasons. Flemings’ unique combination of skills makes his professional trajectory one to watch. His elite defense should get him on the floor immediately, but his offensive development will determine how big a star he’ll become.
