Overview
Jaden Henley came out of Colony High School in Ontario, California as one of the best prospects in the state. As a senior, he averaged 17.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.5 steals, helped the Titans to a 25-3 record and a CIF Division I quarterfinal, and collected All-CIF Southern Division I First Team and Palomares League MVP honors. Then, in college, Henley spent his freshman year at Minnesota, transferred to DePaul, moved on to UNLV, and finally landed at Grand Canyon for his senior season. The last stop is where it all came together. He posted 17.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 31.4 minutes per game while shooting 46.6%/26.8%/75.6%. For that, Henley earned All-Mountain West First Team honors and NABC Mountain District Second Team recognition.
Analysis
Henley plays downhill, pushing the pace in transition before defenses set. In the halfcourt, he utilizes quick changes of direction and tempo that keeps defenders guessing. He lived at the basket this season, finishing at a high clip. He drew fouls and dunked with regularity thanks to his vertical pop. The forward has shown some passing potential as well. He’s more effective inside the arc right now, but he pulls the trigger with confidence off the bounce and has flashed range well behind the NBA line, which leaves plenty of room to grow as a perimeter threat. On defense he’s a pest. Quick feet, active hands and a relentless motor make him a constant disruptor.
Projection
Henley projects as an athletic two-way wing who can defend multiple spots, push tempo and put pressure on the rim. His speed, bounce and disruptive hands give him a clear path to minutes as a connective piece who guards the perimeter and turns stops into transition offense. The jumper is the swing skill, and if a development staff steadies his mechanics, the rest of the package gives him a real chance to stick. NBA comparisons to Henley have been made to players like Cody Martin and Aaron Wiggins.
