Overview
Isaac McKneely arrived in college as one of the most decorated prep players West Virginia has ever produced. He won the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year and the Bill Evans Award in back-to-back seasons, and he led Poca High to a West Virginia AA state championship as a senior, posting 22 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game that year. A consensus four-star recruit, he committed to Virginia and spent three seasons in the program before transferring to Louisville for his final year. He had already led the ACC in three-point percentage as a junior. With the Cardinals, he started all 35 games and put up 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 28.9 minutes per game while shooting 41.6%/39.5%/86.0%. He buried 96 threes on the season, an average of 2.7 a game, and dished 50 assists against 30 turnovers. He earned CSC Academic All-District honors and helped push Louisville into the NCAA Tournament, where he poured in a season-high 23 points against South Florida.

Analysis
McKneely is a knockdown movement shooter who can curl off screens, relocate, and punish defenders who lose track of him. His frame sets him apart from most shooting specialists. He’s strong and well-built, the kind of guard defenders can’t bully off his spots or overpower on a drive, and that strength gives him a real chance to guard multiple positions at the next level. He’s most dangerous off the catch and on straight-line drives, with room to keep growing as a creator off the bounce. McKneely’s defense is built on footwork and discipline after years in Virginia’s famously demanding system.

Projection
McKneely projects as a movement shooter and connective guard in the NBA. His shooting gravity forces defenses to account for him the second he crosses half court, and his feel makes him an easy fit next to ball-dominant creators. NBA comparisons to McKneely can be made to players like Pat Connaughton, Garrison Mathews and Danny Green. He has the potential to carve out a role as a reliable perimeter threat and contribute the moment he steps on an NBA floor.
