Overview

Henri Veesaar made his senior debut for the Estonian national team at age 17, suiting up against Iceland in the summer of 2021 as a product of Real Madrid’s renowned youth academy. He left Madrid for Tucson in May 2022, joining Arizona as a developmental project with rare size and skill. He played sparingly as a freshman and lost his entire sophomore campaign to an elbow injury, which he chose to redshirt. The breakthrough came in 2024-25 when he stepped into a bigger role, averaging 9.4 points and 5.0 rebounds and earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. He transferred to North Carolina for his junior season and erupted. Veesaar averaged 17.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 blocks in 31.3 minutes per game on 61/43/62 shooting splits, racking up 13 double-doubles along the way. He took home Second-Team All-ACC honors and earned a spot on the NABC South Atlantic District First Team before declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft.

Analysis

Veesaar drilled threes at over a 42% clip on volume as a junior, climbing from a 27% mark as a freshman to a perimeter weapon in three years. His mechanics are clean, and he fires with confidence in various situations. The Real Madrid academy roots show up in his passing. He throws lobs out of the short roll, finds cutters with bounce passes, and takes care of the ball while running offense. Around the rim, he finishes with soft hands and a quick second jump. His frame is on the leaner side, but he has length, mobility, and active hands as a shot-blocker that all hint at meaningful runway on the defensive end.

Projection

Veesaar projects as a modern floor-spacing five who can also connect actions out of the short roll and finish above the rim. He fits the inside-out template every NBA front office is hunting for in its centers. NBA comparisons to the big man can be made to players like Sandro Mamukelashvili, John Collins and Kelly Olynyk. Veesaar could step into an NBA rotation the moment his number is called.
