Get to Know Christian Anderson

Christian Anderson sits down with Lauren Green from NBA TV to discuss the NBA Draft.

Overview
Anderson made his name on the international stage, winning MVP at the 2022 FIBA U16 EuroBasket Division B while leading Germany to gold. He carried that momentum stateside, splitting his high school years between Lovett School in Atlanta and Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. The four-star recruit ultimately landed at Texas Tech. He arrived in Lubbock having since added a U18 EuroBasket gold in 2024 and a U19 World Cup silver in 2025 with All-Star Five honors. After earning Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection, Anderson made the leap as a sophomore. He averaged 18.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.6 steals in 38.5 minutes per game, shooting 55.8 percent on twos, 41.5 percent from three and 80.5 percent from the free-throw line. The Third-Team All-American (AP, TSN, USBWA) and First-Team All-Big 12 selection won Big 12 Most Improved Player and carried the Red Raiders to the Sweet 16.

Analysis
Anderson is a knockdown shooter. His range extends well beyond the arc, and he was great pulling up off the dribble. He pairs that shotmaking with pick-and-roll feel, putting teammates in position to score with precise feeds. He was efficient as a shooter and took care of the ball despite his heavy workload. Anderson has room to add strength to his frame, which should help him as a driver at the NBA level. Defensively, he’s best suited to go against point guards due to his size.

Projection
Anderson projects as an offensive guard who can plug into an NBA rotation from day one as a pick-and-roll operator, floor spacer and secondary creator. His shooting, processing speed and composure should be appealing to NBA teams. In terms of NBA comparisons, he has similarities to Jamal Murray, Darius Garland and Payton Pritchard. With his international pedigree, two-year track record of efficiency at a major program and an excellent jump shot, Anderson has the potential to be an immediate contributor.

Quotable
“The way he can pass to the weak side, the way he can make that third-level read, he can score it in every scenario. … Whatever we’ve put in front of him, he’s just inhaled it and believed it and worked at it.”
— Texas Tech head coach Grant McCasland
