Brayden Burries sits down with Lauren Green from NBA TV to discuss the NBA Draft.
Overview
A five-star recruit out of Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, California, Brayden Burries was named the California Gatorade Player of the Year in 2025. He also got a McDonald’s All-American nod and played in the Jordan Brand Classic before heading to the University of Arizona. The 6-foot-4 guard led the Wildcats in scoring and steals in his lone season in Tucson, during which he averaged 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals in 29.9 minutes per contest across 39 outings. The 20-year-old posted impressive shooting splits with Arizona, shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from three-point range and 80.5 percent from the charity stripe. Burries also earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and helped Arizona reach the Final Four for the first time since 2001.
Analysis
A combo guard who served as Arizona’s primary scoring option in one of the team’s most successful seasons in recent memory, Burries is a three-level scorer with the ability to finish through contact. His size and physicality allow him to compete on both ends of the floor, and he has the tools to contribute immediately as a versatile guard. While the young guard still has room to grow as a primary playmaker, his combination of shooting, finishing ability, defensive instincts and size provides an excellent foundation. His all-around skill set gives him considerable long-term upside.
Projection
Burries’ blend of size, toughness, shooting and defensive versatility highlights the traits of a future All-Star-caliber talent. He can play on and off the ball and has the ability to impact the game in multiple areas. He figures to see immediate burn thanks to his well-rounded game and projects as an NBA-ready contributor early on. The Arizona product draws comparisons to guards like Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, though continued growth as a lead playmaker will be a key part of Burries’ development.

Quotable
“He’s a laid-back, kind of unassuming guy, but he has a killer in him, and that’s a beautiful attribute. There’s nothing wrong with being a great human being off the court and being a killer on the court. He definitely has that combination.”
