Signs qualifying offer
Thomas and the Nets were unable to reach a long-term agreement. By signing this qualifying offer, Thomas will have a full no-trade clause and will be able to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason. Charania notes that at least 10 NBA teams will be positioned to have ample cap space, and Thomas will have plenty of motivation to produce a big season. Thomas averaged 24.0 points, 3.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 31.2 minutes per game last season, but he appeared in only 25 regular-season contests because of hamstring injuries.

Traded to Brooklyn
Highsmith was a big part of Miami's rotation in 2024-25, as he averaged 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.5 blocks and 1.2 three-pointers on 45.8 percent shooting from the field in 24.6 minutes per night. In Brooklyn, Highsmith will be joining a rebuilding team, and he'll be competing for minutes with guys like Terance Mann, Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney off the bench. Highsmith underwent surgery Aug. 8 to repair a meniscal tear in his right knee and is currently questionable to be ready by Opening Night.

Inks deal with Nets
Zeng played with the G League Ignite during the 2021-22 campaign before electing to transition to the top league in China. In the CBA last season, he averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks on an impressive 53 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent from three. One of the CBA's top prospects will get another shot in North America at just 22 years old.
