LAS VEGAS — Strong performances by Colin Castleton and Blake Hinson coupled with Bronny James’ best game yet helped the Lakers to an exciting 87-86 comeback victory over the Atlanta Hawks in an NBA 2K25 Summer League battle at Thomas and Mack Center on Wednesday night.
A game that would see some drastic second-half swings started off very competitively, with the Lakers emerging from a hard-fought first half with a 44-41 lead over the Hawks. Atlanta then appeared to take control during a third quarter in which they outscored Los Angeles by a 31-19 margin, but the Lakers would mount a comeback over the final 3:47 that included a James 3-pointer and seven points from Castleton to help seal the victory.
Castleton led the Lakers with a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double that also included six assists and two steals. Blake Hinson furnished 14 points, two assists, one rebound and one steal. James netted 12 points and added one rebound and one steal.
Robert Baker and Jarkel Joiner led the Hawks with 17 points apiece while recording five and three rebounds, respectively. Joiner added four assists and two steals among his other contributions. Keaton Wallace delivered 13 points, five assists, one rebound, three steals and two blocks. Mouhamed Gueye and Moses Wood generated matching 10-point tallies while pulling down three and four rebounds, respectively.
